Current Work: Domestication Series & Her Brother's Keeper Series

Our current assemblage/collage projects all relate back to the medicalization of gender and the embodied human sexual experience, with a certain focus on childbirth trauma and familial relationships. These two series are closely linked (and some of our recent work belongs in both), but they seem to be developping in slightly different directions.

Gift: Exegesis (Artist Book)

Materials include imitation parchment, printer ink and indian ink, manipulated and unmanipulated photographs, oil and digital paint, encaustic, dog bones/teeth, snakeskin, and both authentic and forged antique book pages. The book takes as its topic apotropaic dark deities and sacred tricksters, so its inability to be honest about its own materiality is part of the concept.
(This is currently showing at the 6th annual PINNACLE Juried Art Exhibit at the Foster-Tanner Art Gallery. Missing photographs will be uploaded once it gets home.)

  • Lullaby

A closer photo of the mixed media sculpture that was the centerpiece of Lullaby and also part of the Uncanny Forest installation, as well as appearing in our film, The Doll. This was constructed with plastic, paint, feathers, paper mache, fabric, hot glue, and live mushrooms -- we planted mushroom spores inside the ribcage and the mushrooms sprouted through the fabric.
